As empaths, care-takers, moms, dads, entrepreneurs & survivors of trauma; many of us find that we live a sacrificial life. You may sacrifice for your family, for your community, for your clients or even for God and many religions promote self-sacrifice as a holy standard to which you should follow; but when sacrifice impedes on your ability to take care of your basic human needs, your nervous system, your sense of balance and wholeness than you are pouring more than you can give, and receiving less that you actually need and deserve. This is a distortion that often comes with sacrifice by pure definition of the word which means “something given up or lost”.
This is the wounded empath/healer/hero template; in which you kill yourself for the greater good of others. This wound often leaves people pouring themselves with everything they have and receiving very little in return. Depletion is not your portion! You can be an empath, a healer and even the hero in your story without killing yourself to help the pack.
